after that I will continue to do good and become a useful person that's all I want to do before I die for mate affairs, death and sustenance has been set up. I just try to live it and may Allah open the door of forgiveness and get to heaven with the good people there. and may I die with the condition of the Muslims

Freeport negotiations with government continue

| 06:01 pmNegotiations between the government and gold and copper mining company PT Freeport Indonesia continue almost one month after the firm submitted its complaints and threatened to take the case to international arbitration.
Tony Wenas, who takes part in the negotiations as Freeport Indonesia executive vice president, said no solution had been reached since negotiations started.
"The discussions are still ongoing, and we are trying to find the best resolution for the future," he said on Thursday.
Tony declined to disclose what exactly was the deadlock keeping the two parties from concluding their negotiations.
Freeport has refused to accept the government’s demand to convert its contract of work (CoW) agreement into a special mining license (IUPK). The company argues that an IUPK would effectively annul its CoW signed in 1991.
Freeport says it does not want to give up the rights listed in its CoW, including protection of its long-term investments.
Under new government regulations, Freeport is required to gradually divest 51 percent of its shares to Indonesian entities.
Tony met with Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Wiranto on Thursday, a day after visiting the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry to discuss the issue with officials there. (bbn)

stopping global warming only way to save coral reefs
Kristen Gelineau
Associated Press
Sydney

| 06:13 pm
Reducing pollution and curbing overfishing won't prevent the severe
bleaching that is killing coral at catastrophic rates, according to a
study of Australia's Great Barrier Reef. In the end, researchers say,
the only way to save the world's coral from heat-induced bleaching is
with a war on global warming.Scientists are quick to note that local protection of reefs can help damaged coral recover from the stress of rising ocean temperatures. But the new research shows that such efforts are ultimately futile when it comes to stopping bleaching in the first place.
"We don't have any tools to climate-proof corals," said Terry Hughes, director of the ARC Center of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies in Australia and lead author of the study being published on Thursday in the journal Nature. "That's a bit sobering. We can't stop bleaching locally. We actually have to do something about climate change."
Across the world, scores of brilliantly colored coral reefs once teeming with life have in recent years become desolate, white graveyards. Their deaths due to coral bleaching have grown more frequent as ocean temperatures rise, mainly due to increasing greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. The hot water stresses corals, forcing them to expel the colorful algae living inside them, which leaves the corals vulnerable to disease and death. Given enough time, bleached coral can recover if the water cools, but if the temperature stays too high for too long, the coral will die.
Preserving coral reefs is crucial, given we depend on them for everything from food to medical research to protection from damaging coastal storms. Scientists and policymakers have thus been scrambling to find ways to prevent bleaching. Last year, for example, Hawaiian officials proposed several measures they hoped would fight bleaching on the state's reefs, such as limiting fishing, establishing new marine protected areas and controlling polluted runoff from land. The question was whether such efforts could provide the corals any resistance to bleaching, or just help them recover.
The researchers conducted aerial and underwater surveys of the Great Barrier Reef, which has experienced three major bleaching events, the worst of which occurred last year. The scientists found that the severity of bleaching was tightly linked to how warm the water was. In the north, which experienced the hottest temperatures, hundreds of individual reefs suffered severe bleaching in 2016, regardless of whether the water quality was good or bad, or whether fishing had been banned. That means even the most pristine parts of the reef are just as prone to heat stress as those that are less protected.
Prior exposure to bleaching also did not appear to provide any protective benefit to the coral. The scientists found that the reefs that were highly bleached during the first two events, in 1998 and 2002, did not experience less severe bleaching last year.
Ultimately, the study concluded, saving reefs from the ravages of bleaching requires urgent action to reduce global warming.
"I think it's a wake-up call," Hughes said. "We've been hoping that local interventions with water quality and fishing would improve the resistance of the corals to bleaching. We found no evidence that that's actually true, at least during a very severe event."
The study shows that older ways of thinking about reef management, such as reducing river runoff, are now moot points when it comes to preventing bleaching, said Kim Cobb, a climate scientist and coral researcher at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.
"It all seems so quaint now, really," said Cobb, who wasn't part of the study. "A future that we thought was decades coming is basically here."
The research also illustrated the gravity of the situation facing the 2,300-kilometer (1,400-mile) Great Barrier Reef. The team found 91 percent of the reef has been bleached at least once during the three bleaching events. Even more alarming, Hughes said, is that a fourth bleaching event is already underway. Corals need years to recover from bleaching, so back-to-back events increase the possibility that the bleached coral will die.
The study shows that very intense coral bleaching events are no longer isolated and are happening more regularly, said coral reef scientist Julia Baum of Canada's University of Victoria. That assertion has been further bolstered by the Great Barrier Reef's latest bleaching event, which began a few weeks ago and which Baum says has stunned scientists.
"None of us were expecting the water to be heating up again right now," Baum said. "I think it's beyond what any of us could have imagined. It's our worst nightmare."
Summary.
according to the experts how to save coral reefs in a way of combating global warming. coral reefs around the world several brightly colored desolate and scary like white grave due kedaan sea temperatures rise and kill some coral reefs, especially increasing greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Hot water stressed coral, forcing them to expel the algae that live colorful in it, which leaves corals are vulnerable to disease and death. Conserve coral reefs are very important, since we rely on them for everything from food to medical research for the protection of coastal storm damage. Scientists and policy makers have thus been struggling to find ways to prevent bleaching that the older way of thinking about the management of coral reefs, such as reducing the runoff of the river, now a moot point when it comes to preventing bleaching, said Kim Cobb, a climate scientist and researcher coral The Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.

Digital transactions galore at Telkom Craft Indonesia

State-Owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno recently called on
state-owned companies to help micro, small and medium enterprises
(MSMEs) widen their market reach.
"MSMEs still need assistance and guidance when it comes to developing their product standards and quality, as well as in helping them to make use of technology and have better management," Rini said during the opening of the Telkom Craft Indonesia exhibition at the Jakarta Convention Center on March 10.
Telkom Craft Indonesia, an expo held as part of the ministry "Rumah Kreatif BUMN" project, ran from March 10 to 12 and invited visitors to conduct digital transactions.
RI’s first digital expo
Unlike similar expos in the past, Telkom Craft Indonesia was the first expo in the country that not only focused on digital MSMEs but also used a digital payment system that made use of TCASH from Telkomsel and through blanja.com whenever any transactions took place at the event.
Visitors and participating vendors were enthusiastic about the transaction method.
Participating vendors said they felt relieved by the use of digital transactions, as it meant they did not have to worry about not having the right amount of change. "When sales are at their peak, it can be inconvenient to have to have spare change always available," one vendor said.
Meanwhile, a visitor, Budi, noted that his purchases at the event marked his first time conducting digital transactions. "I prefer it this way, as having purchases delivered to my home means I would not have to worry about carrying items all the way back to my home," Budi said.
MSMEs as movers in RI's digital economic ecosystem
Telkom Craft Indonesia was very useful for MSMEs across the country. "Telkom deserves appreciation for initiating this event. They have given an opportunity for MSME owners to gain access to a wider market through the expo and the digitalization of businesses," Rini said.
The event featured 150 participating MSMEs chosen from 125,000 that partner with Telkom and other state-owned enterprises throughout the country. The participating MSMEs were divided into three categories: craft, fashion and food.
Telkom's executive director, Alex J. Sinaga, said Telkom had an important role in supporting the digitalization of MSMEs. According to Alex, MSMEs have enormous potential to influence the nation's digital economic ecosystem in the digital age. "Telkom is playing a role as an enabler or facilitator that can build Indonesia's digital community. One way we are supporting this is to aid MSMEs by giving them help in making use of information and communications technology in their daily operations," Alex said.
Alex hoped that MSMEs could compete in and penetrate the global market. The goal was in line with the expo's main theme of "local heroes to global champions”. He viewed many MSME products as already being of high quality and value. The next step, for him, was to continue competing at a global level.

Khristian Ibarrola Inquirer.net/Asia News Network
Seems like the so-called “rise of the machines” is on a roll in Japan, as one travel agency unveiled its second robot-staffed hotel.
On Wednesday, H.I.S Co. opened Henn-na Hotel near the Tokyo Disney Resort in Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture—which is manned by robotic crew.
The hotel’s name, as per The Japan Times, is a play on the Japanese word meaning “strange.”
“The aim of Henn-na Hotel is not about being strange, it’s about transforming and evolving,” H.I.S founder and chairman Hideo Sawada explained during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
“Having robots in charge of the reception and placing robots everywhere, we aim to make it the most efficient hotel in the world,” he added.
Aside from robots designed to mimic the functions of human workers, including helping guests carry their luggages, the front desk will also feature a robot receptionist that speaks Japanese, English, Chinese and Korean.
Even small tasks such as window-cleaning and vacuuming will be handled by artificial intelligence, the report said.
Furthermore, the state-of-the-art facility will also have a keyless-feature, relying on facial recognition instead. It will also minimize electricity usage through motion sensors that automatically turn appliances on and off.
Interested vacationers, however, must book early, as about 80 percent of available reservations are already reserved until March.
The robot-staffed hotel is the first in the Kanto region and second overall in Japan. The company is also looking to launch 100 more branches overseas in the next five years.

South Tangerang’s and Jakarta’s Gobang Batik: Gaining fame and going global
Inforial
The Jakarta Post
Jakarta, Indonesia |
Mon, March 13, 2017
| 12:00 amIn the past we have generally been more familiar with the batik styles of Yogyakarta and Pekalongan. Not many know that South Tangerang, a municipality located just southwest of Jakarta, has its unique batik style, which is recent times has been going global. NeltyFariza is the person responsible for popularizing the South Tangerang batik
Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are gaining more respect as an indispensable driver of the national economy. Their important role is recognized in the government’s Nawacita program on the independence of the economy and domestic strategic sectors. In this global era, the economic independence of local MSMEs is expected to boost the nation’s competitiveness.
A major feature of MSMEs is their strong reliance on local strength and potential. This is what Nelty Fariza and Ethy Setiawati, two MSME industry players from South Tangerang and Jakarta, do in their persistent creative efforts to develop the local batik industry. Thanks to their hard work supported by state-owned telcocommunication company PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom), batik today is not only associated with Surakarta or Pekalongan.
In Love with South Tangerang’s Culture
Nelty’s love of local culture encourages her to be involved in the batik industry and to popularize South Tangerang batik. She believes that, with proper promotional campaigns, South Tangerang batik will be able to compete with the batik of other regions. “We are familiar with the batik of Central Java and Yogyakarta. Now is the time for people to get to know South Tangerang batik,” Nelty said.
According to Nelty, South Tangerang batik has its own unique styles, such as pesona Krakatau (Krakatau charm), batik benteng(fort batik), batik badakculasatu (one-horned rhino batik) and batik RumahBlandongan. “These patterns are based on the wealth of art and culture of the Banten Province,” she explained, adding that all of her batik products are based on South Tangerang and Banten cultures. For example, the rumahblandonganis an iconic traditional house in South Tangerang. The pesona Krakatau motif is based on Mt. Krakatau, an iconic tourism site in Banten Province.
The history of South Tangerang batik began in 2004, when the SekarPurnamamotif was born. SekarPurnamais a motif with uniquely Banten design. More recently, the name SekarPurnamabecame a brand of Nelty’s South Tangerang batik creation. The brand’s full name is SekarPurnamaSouth Tangerang Ethnic Batik. Due to the uniqueness of the South Tangerang batik motif, Nelty has traveled abroad many times to promote it.
She has also enjoyed full support from the government. In 2008, when the Banten provincial government held the National Koran Recital Competition (MTQ), her batik creations were worn by VIP officials, including the president and ambassadors of Islamic countries. This was a personal achievement for her and it brought widespread media attention to her products.
She said that she targeted the upper-middle class market with the SekarPurnama batik. “I made it for the middle-upper class, but it is up to the market [who wants to buy them],” she said.
She added that promoting South Tangerang batik was not always easy as it was less popular than Surakarta batik, for instance. Therefore, Nelty often participates in exhibitions both in Indonesia and abroad. “Thanks to Telkom’s support, I often get the chance to participate in exhibitions,” she said. Due to her participation in numerous exhibitions and funding assistance from Telkom, South Tangerang batik is becoming increasingly popular.
Apart from participating in exhibitions, her online shop is also an effective marketing medium. Nelty says that online marketing is a necessity in today’s digital world. “At first, I did not quite understand online marketing, but Telkom through its RumahKreatif BUMN [State-Owned Enterprise Creative Home] program provides online business marketing training sessions. I hope that people can easily find South Tangerang batik on blanja.com,” Nelty said.
When Nelty is busy promoting South Tangerang batik, EthySetiawati chooses to develop the Gobang batik style in Jakarta. The design of Gobang batik features the characteristics of Jakarta as the nation’s capital with its unique flora and fauna.
Under the banner of ie-osh Batik, Ethy is continuing the family business that has existed for generations. With the slogan “Different & Classy”, she pledges to produce limited quantities of high-quality batik creations different from other batik products in the market.
Through producing and selling high-quality Gobang batik, EthySetiawati says that she hopes she can help preserve Jakarta’s culture. Ethy routinely provides batik-making training for individuals, groups and anyone wanting to learn how to produce batik.
“So many Jakartans need to be empowered. Sharing knowledge with locals in districts and sub-districts is one of my routine activities. I hope to spread the spirit of entrepreneurship,” Ethy said.
Gobang batik is currently used as the uniform for civil servants in the Jakarta administration and for students in Jakartan schools. Ethy’sGobang batik business developed even more after she became a Telkom partner.
“Ever since I joined Telkom’s program in 2011, I have experienced many positive changes in my business. Telkom provides me access to exhibitions in Indonesia and abroad, including in Asia and Europe. Ever since I participated in the exhibitions with Telkom, my perspective and networking skills has broadened,” Ethy said.
Beyond that, Ethy said she also acknowledged the importance of online marketing. “The next step I am preparing with Telom is to develop an online marketing strategy forGobang batik. I am preparing the products that will be marketed through the blanja.com website and application,” Ethy said.
The South Tangerang and Jakarta’s Gobang batik creations were displayed at “Telkom Craft Indonesia” at Jakarta Convention Center’s Hall A, Jakarta. Indonesia’s first-ever MSMEdigital handicrafts exhibition was held byTelkom Indonesia from March 10 to March 12, 2017.

An additional 0.6 m (2 ft) showed that at that time the exact height of 29,000 feet will be regarded as estimates are rounded. Estimated commonly used at this time is 8.850 m obtained through the reading of the Global Positioning System (GPS). However, Chimborazo only reached an altitude of 6,272 m above sea level, so it is not even the highest peak in the Andes.
